Brain Machine Interface for Meal Assistance Robot

Statistics show that nearly 15% of the world population is suffering from some sort of a disability and considerable amount from that population is suffering from severe disabilities. These people will need assistance from a specific device or from a caretaker to overcome the disability. This project aims to address the problem of self feeding. Steady State Visually Evoked Potential based Brain Machine Interface was used for to generate the control signals for the robot.

There is the possibility of choosing among 3 solid food items using the SSVEP BMI. Once the user has done a selection 4 degree of freedom robot was used to feed the selected food item from the bowl.
